Twin Town International Reunion in Newbury

70 visitors from Newbury's twin and associated towns will be invited to stay with host families in Newbury.

A programme of events is being organised for the visitors that links with the current project on Migration that is taking place in each twin town.

There will also be the opportunity for hosts and visitors to have free time together to explore beautiful West Berkshire.

All Twin Town Members, friends and family are invited to get involved in the weekend as hosts, helpers, drivers, cooks, welcomers and in lots of other ways.

Twin Town Visit to Bagnols-sur-Ceze (France)

A group from Newbury will be visiting Bagnols to take part in a weekend of activities.  Visitors from our other twin and associated towns will also be present.

Visitors will travel together and stay with host families from the Bagnols Twin Town Assocation.



International Reunions

2013 – The 50th Anniversary of the twinning between Newbury and Braunfels was celebrated by an event in Newbury. 

2014 – The 50th Anniversary of the twinning between Newbury and Braunfels was celebrated by an event in Braunfels from 24th to 28th July.  

2014 - Bagnols - The International Reunion was celebrated from 20th to 24th November.

The following information has been added at the request of the Bagnols Twin Town Association.


The "MEETING OF EUROPEAN CULTURE AND HISTORY BETWEEN GENERATIONS" of November 2014 was funded by the European Union in the framework of the program "Europe for Citizens"

Applicable to Tier 2, Measure 2.1 - "Town Twinning"

Participation: The project brought together 121 people, including 30 from FELTRE (Italy), 8 from Kiskunfélegyháza (Hungary), 25 from CARCAIXENT (Spain), 12 from EEKLO (Belgium), 20 from BRAUNFELS (Germany) and 26 from NEWBURY (United Kingdom).

The meeting took place in Bagnols-sur-Cèze (France) from 20/11/2014 to 24/11/2014

Short description:

20/11/2014 was devoted to welcoming participants. Accommodation was provided by host families.

21/11/2014 was devoted to the discovery of the city's heritage: A presentation by students of the College Gerard Philipe on the history of the Gard region, a guided tour of the town with dramatic reconstructions relating to Bagnols-sur-Cèze in 1914, introduction the game of boules.

22/11/2014 was devoted to the discoveriny of the heritage of the Gard-Rhodanien region via a car rally, then a visit to the art museum of Bagnols sur Cèze, a visit to the exhibition of the commemoration of WWI (exhibition open  from 15 October to 22 November 2014), a visit to Rabelais Square and an exhibition devoted to viticulture in the Gard-Rhodanien region.

23/11/2014 was devoted to the European conference on intergenerational dialogue and the construction of the European Union. Afterwards a European buffet took place with contribution provided from all the Twin Towns.

24/11/2014 was devoted to the departure of the delegations.
